Having had the benefit of experience in global marketing organizations, Rami learned that despite their immense importance to the success of most organzations, marketing functions are often mistakenly perceived by corporate leadership as easily dispensible in times of budget cutting. He is a strong advocate of pragmatic, skilled marketing, but believes that organizations' marketing needs are dynamic. Though there is no substitute for experienced, innovative marketing leadership through a CMO (Chief Marketing Officer), most organizations cannot afford to engage one full-time. According to industry reports, the days of the purely strategic CMO are gone -- a CMO must now be actively involved in many aspects of marketing. In 2002, Rami started a boutique marketing consulting company, Dalal Enterprises, with operations in the Washington, DC metro and Fort Lauderdale, FL. Formalized service offering portfolio for internal agency and transformed the team into a world-class organization for Brand Management, Creative Design, Print, Web, Video Design and Production, and Event / Conference Management

Challenge:

​Despite the challenges of a GSE in government conservatorship, the leadership of the Corporate Communications and External Relations Division sought to improve employee engagement and improve the efficiency and output of the in-house agency.

Rami Dalal’s Solution:

By restructuring the department, Rami created the foundation for a collaborative, cross-functional team of creative, executive, and production-centric staff. Rami applied change management and business transformation best practices to better serve the internal client needs and improve employee satisfaction. By expanding, standardizing, and publishing the service catalog, he responded to client needs and gained the support and backing of staff and division leadership. Formalized account management functions and engaged staff and clients in quarterly planning processes that resulted in 60% reduction in operational costs while vastly expanding the service catalog and customer satisfaction.

Founded a functional and streamlined Marketing & Communications operating model for the global firm in conjunction with operating procedures, firm-wide policies, and innovative working solutions

Challenge:

The firm’s leadership identified deficiencies in the operational organization that limited service delivery in various functions across the firm, including Marketing and Business Development, Internal Communications, Public Relations, IT, HR, Training, Accounting, etc. The COO, CFO, and CIO brought Rami in to improve collaboration, institute working policies and procedures, and elevate communications and marketing efforts to the next level.

Rami Dalal’s Solution:

To increase efficiencies in the operations of the firm while improving customer satisfaction, Rami founded the Global Infrastructure Services model for the firm, thereby standardizing services across the firm while formalizing the service catalog. Defined a new way of working for the firm, which was supported through various technologies that resulted in enhanced collaboration, information sharing, and self-service capabilities. Under Rami’s design, leadership and support, various technologies were created to support the effort, including a new firm Web site, intranet, online communities, email marketing tools, etc. Developed firm-wide policies to support social media, branding initiatives, technology usage, financial capabilities, etc.Built teams, designed realignments, and demonstrated leadership to bring teams together to work toward the same goals.Developed focus group and survey campaigns to baseline and track customer and employee satisfaction, resulting in dramatic improvement of both customer and employee satisfaction.Formalized branding and communications standards for internal and external communications across all functions and firm-wide initiatives.Vastly improved service portfolios and team cohesion and operating models while reducing operating budgets for Marketing & Communications team by 77%.

Booz Allen Hamilton

Established Internal Communications standards and outreach programs for Booz Allen Hamilton’s Information Services and launched a Shared Services model

Challenge:

The 19,000+ worldwide employees and partners in the firm perceived Booz Allen Hamilton’s internal IT department negatively.

Rami Dalal’s Solution:

Developed a comprehensive campaign and processes to improve the image and employee outreach of Information Services and the Global Operations (GO) team, working directly with two CIOs and staff throughout the GO team. Re-branded the team’s identity and developed logos, literature, and signage to support the team’s new identity. Conducted customer segmentation analysis to better understand and serve the customers. Standardized and crafted internal communications in a program that was then adopted by Marketing & Communications for the entire firm. Developed firm-wide outreach program and supporting Website to showcase the service offering capabilities at local offices. Customer satisfaction and awareness increased dramatically with 99% of staff surveyed noting a consistency and improvement in internal communications as a result of these campaigns. Was instrumental in the development of a shared services model and launch of a shared Help Desk for firm-wide services (IT, HR, Facilities, etc.)

Expanded AOL Classifieds to ClassifiedPlus for AOL, AOL Anywhere, Netscape, CompuServe, Digital City, and Custom Solutions Partners

Challenge:

​AOL's Classifieds business was antiquated and losing money and needed to reinvent the product and make it competitive and profitable.

Rami Dalal’s Solution:

Directed development and growth of online classifieds for America Online and all its brands, increasing traffic 300%, while realizing a $36 million annual revenue plan (up from $0 at hire date). Conceived programming that delivers traffic to ten major categories and facilitated design and production of advertising that supported the product. Coordinated and led campaign to take monthly page views from 200,000 impressions to 1.1Billion per month. Developed relationships with partner companies to create compelling and contextual content with industry leaders.

Launched and Managed 1-800 MUSIC NOW®

for MCI Telecommunications

Challenge:

MCI leadership wanted alternate revenue streams to maximize the company’s marketing muscle, and also wanted to get into the music industry.

Rami Dalal’s Solution:

Invented and designed 1-800 MUSIC NOW using VRU and Internet technology. Coordinated and led efforts of multifunctional teams to achieve a record-setting launch of the new national product, selling over 1 million pieces of music in year one. Worked with Marketing team and Ad Agency to leverage advertising budget of $35 Million for the launch of the product, creating strong national brand recognition. Coordinated the efforts of over 800 team members to get the product to launch within 6 months from the concept stage, and beyond.
